‘Bollywood Here I Come To Do Chamak Challo…’

Lakshmi Manchu is a popular name in Telugu films and is making her foray into Bollywood with Ram Gopal Varma’s Department. Ramu was so impressed by Lakshmi Manchu’s performance as a witch in the Telugu film ‘ Anaganaga O Dheerudu’ that he roped in the versatile actress to play the leading lady opposite Sanjay Dutt in his forthcoming Hindi film Department. Department also stars Amitabh Bachchan as a politician and Rana Daggubati.

Lakshmi plays the role of a conventional housewife but it’s more unique than ever before. Lakshmi is working with Ramu for the second time, the first one being a Telugu movie Dongala Muthu. “Ramu is truly inspiring to work with him. When Ramu asked me, I had the dates available and I jumped into it”, says Lakshmi.
Working for her first Hindi feature film was quite an experience when you know not much than just to manage to get an auto. Lakshmi says, “It is my first Hindi film. I never had spoken so much Hindi in my life. Most was getting an auto while bunking college. Movies are my passion. My dedication and love for acting has made me feel like it’s a holiday. I never feel like work. Acting is the way of life for me. I get to be so many people”. Talking about her co-stars she says, “I was super floored by Amithabji’s energy! Electrifying!!! Most of my scenes are with Sanju Baba and it has been great working with him. He is such a gentleman – very humble and down to earth. Rana, I have known him forever. He is a real good friend. He is always there for you”.
Much excited about her foray into the Hindi film industry, Lakshmi says, “Bollywood here I come to do Chamak challo with the bodyguard and the delhi bellys”.
