Every year, India produces around 15 reality TV stars, in the fields of song, dance, and adventure among others. In an industry that has stood tall for almost a decade, amongst scores of real TV stars, very few manage to hold their own. The runners-up rarely manage to make a dent in audience’s memory. But Indian Idol 5 finalist, Bhoomi Trivedi made sure she got heard.
After leaving a lasting impression on the judges of the musical reality show, Sony Entertainment, the broadcaster signed on the budding talent for more. And Bhoomi is now cashing in on her luck.
The artiste is returning to prime time television with the channel’s show called Comedy Circus Ke Tansen. She is the female entertainment on the show, that follows the musical-comedy format.
“We have to make up funny songs around themes in each episode. I find it quite exciting, since you get to poke fun at things and also experiment with range,” says Bhoomi, who formed a trio on the show with two actors Sumit Arora from Pavitra Rishta Fame and Jimmy Mosez. What is interesting is that the 22-year-old happened to replace the original choice, Shibani Kashyap, on the show.
“She was supposed to start shooting, but her dates didn’t match. That’s when Sony put me on,” she explains. Though she is glad to be back on TV, Bhoomi says that even though she didn’t end up winning Indian Idol, being second best wasn’t about slim pickings either.
“In fact, because of the show I have been getting to perform at so many shows around the country. I also became an RJ on a popular radio channel for a while and then of course, there is also the promise of Bollywood,” says Bhoomi.
She confirms that she is also being considered for a few playback options for forthcoming Sony Pictures films, but is not at the liberty to reveal anymore. She has also been approached to model for a hair product brand.
