He happens to be the hubby dearest of one of the most talked about women in the country, Mandira Bedi, but Raj Kaushal, a filmmaker of repute, prefers to stay away from the limelight, which was evident during his recent visit to Vadodara.
He happily let Mandira answer most of the questions directed at the couple, and spoke only when he had to. Raj, who has directed and produced films like Anthony Kaun Hai, Shaadi Ka Laddoo and Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, apart from producing My Brother Nikhil, is full of admiration for his wife.
He says, ” I have seen very few women like her and the never-say-die spirit in her is really inspiring. Tell me, how many people in the entertainment industry have re-invented themselves as many times as her? She has taken up new challenges and roles, including cricket, which wasn’t considered a woman’s territory, and mastered those with sincerity and hard work. She has done it all and the best part is that she continues to wear new hats even today! However, I feel that Mandira’s true potential as an actress hasn’t been tapped yet and her best years in the industry are the ones that lie ahead.”
Quiz this filmmaker about why he has not directed or produced a film in a long time, and he admits, “Honestly, I did not feel inspired enough to make more films. It is a creative process and I have to be really inspired to write a film. Mandira keeps telling me that it’s high time that I do my next movie. In fact, I am looking for a nice subject and now that Vir (their son) has come into our lives, I don’t have to look far for inspiration. I might well end up directing a children’s film next.”
