Man For All Seasons

Man For All SeasonsKaun Banega Crorepati’s fifth edition that starts on August 15 on Sony Entertainment is much longer than its previous one that took off on star host Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday last year. It’s likely to run into 60 episodes, as against 40 last year.

Fashion designer Rohit Bal, who has designed the superstar host’s looks this season, admits the anchor’s attire will change with every change in weather. “I’ve ensured that even the suits are not ‘typical’ three-piece, Englishman style. He has to look trendy and chic. The clothes look and feel easy. He needs to look and feel younger. We’ve made some stylish jackets and bandh galas because it’s a formal show,”explains Bal, who has ensured that the host wears jewellery like a brooch and filigri buttons this season. “We’re going from a very strong summer to winter look. Amit is keen to experiment. He wanted me to do the last season too, but the finances didn’t work out then. This time, when they have, I’ve decided to mix Indian with European styling and ornamentation. Towards Diwali, we’ll give him tonal, embroidery work and maybe even some formal kurta pyjamas with jackets.”

When asked if there was anything in particular that Bachchan loves to have in his wardrobe, Rohit laughs and says, “He loves pairing black pants with all his jackets, although there are the beiges and khakis too. He adores black pants,” smiles Rohit. “He’s extremely happy and comfortable with them.”
