Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol were not the first choice for Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara. The roles were initially offered to young actors Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan who apparently refused to work with Farhan Akhtar as they considered him ‘too old’ to play their friend.
When quizzed if his age was the reason behind the duo backing out of the film, Farhan didn’t deny the possibility. “Could be. They haven’t told me that. Everyone has their own reasons. A lot of people didn’t feel comfortable doing Arjun Rampal’s role in Rock On before we cast him. Arjun came on board, the film did very well and he won a National Award. Now, those actors meet me and say they have done the biggest mistake of their lives,” he said, adding, “So when you choose not to do a film it’s got to do with yourself and no one else. You might think that film is not good enough for you or you don’t want to compete with other actors. Who knows! Everybody has their own reasons.”
With Hrithik and Abhay on board, Farhan doesn’t really seem to care!
