Bollywood’s original brawny star, Salman Khan, is working hard to chisel his physique for brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s next, Bodyguard. The star had apparently stopped working out after Dabangg (2010), but has now hit the gym again. He’s also cut down on his carbohydrate intake, besides staying away from liquor and sugar to achieve the beefed-up look.
For some time now, Salman has been stationed at a temporary pad in Film City, shooting non-stop for Bodyguard. Besides beds and wardrobes, makers have also gone all out to make sure that Salman’s gym has everything the star needs. “It has been a crazy schedule because we are shooting from dawn till dusk,” says Atul, adding, “Salman has been working out hard at his gym. Earlier, he would exercise only in the morning. But now, he makes time for it in the afternoon and evening too.”
Salman had put on weight for Dabangg, which required him to play a 45-year-old corrupt cop, Chulbul Pandey. And in his upcoming rom-com Ready, the actor has hardly any scope to flaunt his body. After Dabangg, sources inform, Salman kept himself busy with his treadmill and cycling exercises along with basic workout sessions. But during this period, he largely stayed away from hardcore weight training.
For Bodyguard, Salman has teamed up again with his Wanted and Dabangg fight master Vijayan Master. “They are working on some special action sequences,” says Atul, adding, “Salman is very particular about his body and workouts. But for Bodyguard, he is going a step further. Since he plays a bodyguard in the film, he wants to do full justice to the part. And since his fans look forward to Salman’s look in his films, he has a sense of responsibility towards them.”
