No kiss… No bikinis… No steamy scenes… Sonakshi Sinha is clear about what she won’t do in a movie. Filmmakers like Abbas-Mustan (Race 2 opposite Saif Ali Khan), Shrish Kunder (Joker and Kick with Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, respectively), Prabhu Deva (untitled Akshay starrer), Arbaaz Khan (Dabangg 2) and even Kamal Haasan haven’t been able to persuade her to overstep these self-imposed boundaries. “I’m not acting in movies to buy a house or a car but because I enjoy acting. So there are no compulsions for me to cross certain comfort levels,” says Sonakshi.
Reportedly, the Kamal Haasan film had a couple of bedroom scenes but Sonakshi signed on the dotted line only after she was assured that the script would be altered to suit her demands. “I may have agreed to play the leading lady opposite Mr Kamal Haasan whose daughter (Shruti) is older than me, but my father wouldn’t like seeing me get intimate with one of his colleagues. So it’s sensible and professional to verbally put my cards on the table before I start shooting for any film. If the producer isn’t convinced, he has the option of approaching someone else who’s more accommodating,” she points out.
Recently, morphed pictures of Sonakshi and Vidya Balan were released which showed them posing in a bikini. Vidya was shocked to see a picture of hers in a transparent bikini. The photograph is freely available on the web and Vidya has threatened to take legal action. Sonakshi endorses the decision. “It’s a horrible thing to happen to anyone, particularly actors like Vidya and me who have never gone down that path. Unfortunately, I could not pinpoint the culprit or I would have sued too. But once the magazine came out with my original pictures, people knew the bikini picture was a fake. It was a harrowing experience,” she admits.
Meanwhile, it’s being said that on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan, when asked which actor she’d like to date, Sonakshi mentioned the Band Baaja Baraat actor, Ranveer Singh. “Karan didn’t ask me the question, so no names were mentioned,” she replies. “Ranveer is a talented actor and I’d like to do a movie with him. But go on a date? Not with him or anyone else. There’s just no time. I had some free time coming up since Akshay (Joker co-star) is in London to film Desi Boyz. But the offer for the Kamal Haasan film came up, so now I’ve committed available dates to it. It’s all work and no play. And that’s the way I like it.”
