Islamabad: Visiting top Chinese diplomat, Dai Bingguo has asked the world powers to support Pakistan and offered fresh incentives to Pakistani businesses to operate in China. The top diplomat asked the international community to not desert Pakistan “that has considerable influence in Afghanistan, which must be taken into consideration by those trying to resolve the (Afghan) crisis” .
Earlier, Dai met Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari and PM Yousaf Raza Gilani. China offered Pakistani companies five-year tax waiver, if they operate in its Xinjiang province bordering Pakistan.
The tax waiver could boost China’s move to build a rail line connecting the two countries . Pakistan recently announced that the largest Chinese bank – the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China – has been appointed as the main financier in a consortium that will finance the $1.2 billion Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. China has invested $200 million to build Pakistan’s Gadwar port.
