FBI Team In Mumbai To Study Counter Terrorism

FBI Team In Mumbai To Study Counter Terrorism The Americans now want to learn counter-terrorism tactics in investigating diabolic terror attacks from the Mumbai police. A special team of 15 experts from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were scheduled to arrive in the city on Friday. Sources in the Mumbai police said that during the FBI team’s two-day visit, they will meet Mumbai police commissioner and senior policemen to study the counter-terrorism methods adopted by them following the 26/11 terror attack.

This is for the first time that such a large and structured delegation from the premier US  investigating agency will be interacting with the city police. Joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy, while confirming it, told that this visit is part of the information and knowledge sharing process going on between the Mumbai police and the FBI following the November 26, 2008 terror attacks.

Sources said the team would be briefed about the response of the Mumbai police (including investigation) following the July 13 triple blasts, which was the first after the 26/11 terror attacks. “Mumbai is probably the worst hit city in terms of terrorist attacks. The American investigating agency wants to learn from the experience of the Mumbai police about the safeguards that they have taken to counter such attacks,” said a source, adding that from the experience gathered, the FBI wants to develop a model (on counter-terrorism), which would be included in the syllabus at police training school.
