Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi’s daughter and DMK’s Rajya Sabha MP M Kanimozhi on Thursday sought to dispel notions that the CBI raids in the 2G spectrum scam had strained relations with the Congress party and described the raids as due process of law.
She expressed confidence that the DMK will come out clean through this. Reacting to the raids, she told the media that they were due process of law and did not read much into the fact that persons perceived to be close to her and her father were targetted by the investigators.
“It is the law taking its due course. And it is a process and how can we fight the process when we want to prove ourselves clean,” she said.
“I am open to it and the DMK is open to it (raids). She also dispelled suggestions that the raids had strained DMK’s relations with the Congress.
“Why should they,” she questioned in response to a query. Kanimozhi welcomed the apex court’s direction for expanding the scope of investigations into 2G spectrum allocations since 2001. “It is a very good thing,” she said. She was also questioned by the media on a land deal in Chennai in which the Tatas are said to have acquired a prime property and one person Sarvanan, said to be close to her, is involved.
“It was a deal between two parties in which Sarvanan played the mediator. Even as per the documents being displayed it is clear that it is a deal between two parties and how does this link me in anyway,” she questioned by way of explaining the allegation.
