Bollywood actress Gracy Singh was recently in Jaipur to walk the ramp for a fashion event, and while she may not come to the city very often, she says that she frequently visits Rajasthan. She says, “I come to Rajasthan regularly , and I love Udaipur and Mount Abu in particular.”
A trained classical dancer, Gracy is a huge fan of Mount Abu, the only hill station of the desert state. “I love the natural charm and serenity of Mount Abu. I have been performing regularly at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University headquarters in Abu. And what I like the most about these trips is the variety of cuisines the sisters from various parts of Rajasthan offer me. I still remember some of the spicy dishes a sister from Barmer cooked for me once,” she says.
Ask her about Bollywood, and the actress, who has done films like Lagaan, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Gangaajal, says, “Rather than doing five films a year that go unnoticed, it’s better to do selective ones in which people cannot afford to forget you. This is what I believe. I have not taken a break from Bollywood. I have been doing films, just not regularly, since there’s a lack of good roles being offered to me.”
Currently busy with her dance dramas and live shows, Gracy is also working on a television series. “It’s been a while since I planned to venture into direction. Taking baby steps, I am working on a weekly show. Let’s see how it shapes up. Right now my focus is on classical dance dramas based on social issues like women’s empowerment. We recently did a show Shiv Shakti, which which got a good response. Dance is my first love and I am planning to come to Jaipur with a new show, too,” she says.
