Actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza welcomed their first child, a boy, on Tuesday 18th.
The couple, who tied the knot in February 2012, announced the impending arrival of their bundle of joy in June and Genelia gave birth to the youngest Deshmukh in a Mumbai hospital at 6 pm. A thrilled Riteish took to Twitter to break the news. “It’s a Bbbboooyyy!!!!” he declared. Soon, congratulatory messages from their filmy peers began pouring in.
“Baap Re Baap….congratulations,” Arjun Kapoor tweeted, while Sonu Sood, a close friend of the couple said, “It’s a great feeling to know that my buddy Riteish is a father now. This child will definitely will bring loads of luck to one of the most adorable couples in the fraternity.”
Goldie Behl, who is also a close friend of the duo said, “I am super-thrilled. I wish them all the luck in the world.”
Riteish and Genelia’s love story dates back to 2003, when they made their Bollywood debut in the film Tujhe Meri Kasam. They then teamed up for the 2004 comedy, Masti, where they played a married couple. Though rumors of a romance swirled, the couple refused to acknowledge their relationship, ducking questions by maintaining the “good friends” stance.
They finally opened about their relationship in January 2012, just months before they walked down the aisle. Just like their romance, it was after months of speculation that the couple let the world in on their good news.
The new parents were last spotted at Arpita Khan’s wedding reception last week where the glowing mom-to-be was the centre of attention as she walked in with her doting husband.
